What is the difference between a pacifier, a soother, and a dummy?

They're all the same thing — just different names used in different parts of the world. In Nigeria and across West Africa, you'll often hear "soother" or "dummy"; in the UK it's typically "dummy"; in the US, "pacifier" or "binky." Are the pacifiers you sell safe for newborns?

Yes — safety is non-negotiable for us. All the pacifiers we stock are made from BPA-free, non-toxic silicone or natural rubber materials, and are designed with a one-piece construction to eliminate any risk of small parts detaching. When is the right time to introduce a pacifier to my baby?

Most experts suggest waiting until breastfeeding is well established — usually around two to four weeks after birth — before introducing a pacifier, to avoid any confusion with the natural latch. That said, every baby is different, so it's always worth checking with your paediatrician. How often should I change my baby's pacifier?

As a general rule, pacifiers should be replaced every four to six weeks — sooner if you notice any stickiness, discolouration, tears, or changes in the shape of the teat. Worn pacifiers can harbour bacteria and pose a safety risk, so it's worth checking them regularly. It's always a good idea to have a couple of spares on hand so you're never caught short and you never know when one is going to go missing at the worst possible moment!

How do I clean and sterilise a baby pacifier?

Before first use, and regularly thereafter, pacifiers should be sterilised or boiled in water for a few minutes. For day-to-day cleaning, washing thoroughly with warm soapy water is sufficient.
